REVIEW: Electric Century 'I Lied'

ELECTRIC CENTURY
I Lied
(Single)

A brand new project Electric Century featuring ex-bassist of My Chemical Romance Mikey Way, Dave Debiak (Sleep Station, New London Fire) & Justin Siegel debuted their first new single “I Lied”.

The song premiered on 24th of February, on the Alternative Press website. It received a lot of positive comments form the fans and reached 10,000 views on their YouTube channel.

Starting out with the chords of synthesiser and muted drums (sort of), the intro is settle as only the lead vocalist Dave Debiak sings. The song slowly but surely makes its way into the chorus, which explodes with variety of instruments. Mikey Way’s back vocals are quite impressive, too. One thing’s for sure — “I Lied” is hella catchy.

The first time I heard the song, I didn’t really like it, to be honest. For me, it resembled an 80’s electro pop music such as Pet Shop Boys, or Depeche Mode, of which only a few songs are on my iPod. I had to listen to this song a couple of times, so I could make up my mind about it. Because I was skeptical (I think, everyone is when it comes to former band members trying out something new). But eventually, the melody, lyrics, basically everything about this song got me hooked.

Electric Century’s “I Lied” is like a new dish — you’re afraid to taste it, because you probably won’t like it (that’s why you haven’t tried it out before). But once you take couple of bites, it becomes your favourite.

Just take a moment and listen to this song. You will either like it or not, but you won’t lose anything. That’s for sure.
