REVIEW: Icon For Hire 'Self-titled'

ICON FOR HIRE
SELF-TITLED
(Album review)

On the 15th of October, American rock band Icon For Hire released their second 'Self-titled' album, immediately hitting iTunes 'Top Albums' with 28th place in US and appearing in 200 most downloadable albums in UK.

Female-fronted rock band from Decatur, Illinois, formed in 2007, consist of four members - Ariel (vocals), Shawn Jump (guitar), Josh Kincheloe (bass) & Adam Kronshagen (drums). The band already adapted their own unique sound with the first debut album 'Scripted' (2011) & jumped the US 'Billboard  200' charts, selling 4,300 records in the first week.

The first taste of 'Self-titled' is truly amazing. The new album  is heavier, more aggressive than their previous work. 'Self-titled' consists of 12 songs, including 'Cynics & Critics', 'Sugar and Spice' and 'Watch Me', that officially leaked on 'Tooth & Nail' records' YouTube channel

Icon For Hire's trademark sound - punk rock heaviness, in-your-face riffs laced with bubblegum pop & electronics - has adapted a new element of hip-hop sound, making their second studio album differ from 'Scripted'.

12-track includes head-banging songs like 'Cynics & Critics', 'Nerves', 'Sorry About Your Parents' and more slow, ballad-like 'Slow Down', 'Fix Me', just to name a few.

If you want a new taste of punk-pop, Icon For Hire's 'Self-titled' might be just your piece of candy!
